Is God ok With My Worry?

Other reading: 2 Timothy 1:7, 1 John 4, Romans 8, also Psalm 91 and 1 Corinthians 13

If you feel hopeless and worrisome today, this post is for you.  It’s filled with scripture to build up your faith.  The scriptures here are more important than anything I have to say so I hope you will really hear the words in each passage here.  I pray that by the time you are finished you will be filled with faith and encouragement to face whatever you are going through, with God by your side.  There are so many scriptures about this, God obviously wants to hear Him on it.

Philippians 4:6-9(NKJV)

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Have you ever been in a situation less than desirable, wondering how you will get through, wondering where you will find the strength to carry on?

Have you ever felt as though the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and it is crushing you?

We all do it, we carry what Jesus wants to carry for us.  His shoulders are bigger than ours.  Let Him carry it.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NKVJ

We aren’t meant to carry it.  Give it to Jesus.  He is not ok with your worry.

Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Did you know that worry is sin?  It is, I know it’s a hard one to avoid, but it is sin.  It’s a form of fear.  Fear of not having enough money, fear of not being in good health, afraid of getting hurt, fear of whatever.  Fear is the opposite of faith.  And without faith it is impossible to please God.  He wants us to trust Him.  He is not ok with your worry.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

Also see Romans 14:23 (…everything that does not come from faith is sin)

Have you ever felt weary, hopeless, unsure of the future?  He cares even about the little sparrow, He really does care about things that seem small to us.  He is big enough to handle the little things.

Do you know what I’m talking about?  You know when someone says, “God is too busy, He doesn’t have time to ____________________ (fill in the blank).

God is everywhere, all the time.  His power never ends.  God is all knowing.  He is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient.

He is not ok with your worry, He is big enough to carry it all.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18

Perfect love, did you ever think there was such a thing?  It’s incredible!  He loves us so much He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us.

John 3:15-17 NKVJ

That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Maybe you don’t know this Jesus I am talking about.  Maybe you’ve been told about Him before, but this powerful, loving, caring God I’ve been talking about is foreign to you.  If that’s you, and you want to know Him, you can.  You can say this prayer:

Jesus, come into my life, take away all my fear and hopelessness.  I want to know this God that is love, and cares about every detail of my life.  And that’s You.  Forgive me of all of my sin, make me pure and clean before You.  I pray that You will make me Your disciple today, I want to follow You the rest of the days of my life.  I believe that You died on the cross for me, I believe You rose again and are alive today.  Thank You for the cross, Thank You that I am made new and clean today because of it.  Fill me with Your Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, and mean it, then you are now a follower of Christ and a new creation (1 Corinthians 5:17)!  All of Heaven is rejoicing!  And all the promises in the scriptures I’ve been talking about are now for you.  Find a Holy Spirit, Bible believing Church to be planted in.  Get a Bible in the New King James Version or New American Standard.  Here’s a link to one from amazon.  The book of John is a great place to start.  If you prayed that prayer, please contact me, I’d love to hear from you.

I’ll leave you with these scriptures below.  I truly hope your faith is built up today.  After reading all these scriptures to make up this post, mine is!

1 John 4:7-11 NKJV (emphasis added)

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
He who does not love does not know God, for God is loveIn this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
