Well, it’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. The leaves are turning beautiful colours, the air is beautifully crisp first thing in the morning, the days are getting shorter, too hot for a coat but just perfect for a sweater.
Yes, I love the fall.
Just one thing that’s missing. All of the family we love so much. My heart aches to see all who are missing separated by distance across the country, even the continent. But I’m so incredibly thankful for my parents, my sister and her family that live near us, along with many wonderful friends.
I am very excited for some upcoming posts that are exploding in my heart. I’ll give you a little preview because it really fits right in with Thanksgiving.
This year I find myself thankful for peace & joy. I’m not talking about everything being perfect, no trials, no adversity. I’m talking about peace & joy no matter what things look like, no matter what you are facing.
Philippians 4:7 NASB
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
It seems everywhere I go God is talking to me about this.
Being filled with peace & joy doesn’t have anything to do with the house we live in, the car we drive, the job we drive to, not even family and friends.
Have you ever looked at someone who seems to have everything together, everything looks perfect on the outside, but they are miserable?
I think we all know someone like that.
And then you can meet someone who has a small house, has no car at all, fighting to make ends meet and yet they are the happiest most peaceful human?
I’m very excited to write more about this, but I’ll leave what has been resonating in my spirit about this for next week.
Today I will simply state that I am thankful for peace & joy… and most of all, the cross. Because without the cross, without Jesus, we have nothing.
He is so faithful, and His praise will ever be on my lips.
I do love leaving you with worship songs… here’s one I love and play often in my home.
