7 Goal Inspirations To Kick Off 2017 | A New Years Devotional

Other Reading: Psalm 31

I feel so excited about this new year.  More than I have been in many past years, from what I can remember.  There’s is something about 2017 that has me expectant of what the Lord has in store… maybe that’s a word for me, but I dare you to grab a hold of it and believe it for yourself as well.

This scripture has been coming to mind, and I’ll explain in a minute why.

Proverbs 29:18 HCSB
Without revelation people run wild,
but one who listens to instruction will be happy.

Some versions of this verse say “without vision the people perish”.  Both ways are well said.  We have to have goals, have a vision so that we can get anything done and not “run wild”. Continue reading “7 Goal Inspirations To Kick Off 2017 | A New Years Devotional”

It’s Christmas Eve | A Christmas Poem

It’s Christmas Eve | A Christmas Poem©
from notwithoutmymorningcoffee.com

The snow softly falls outside
The sound of children laughing fills the air
The air that is so crisp, so cold
Yet filled with joy, excitement, anticipation

The stores are filled with anxious shoppers
Buying last minute items missed or forgotten
The cashiers count the minutes until the days end
When they too can join their families around a table or tree Continue reading “It’s Christmas Eve | A Christmas Poem”

Wrapping up 2016 | 7 Of My Favourite Posts of the Year

In 2008 I started a blog.  I posted here and there, and a few years later not at all.  Then earlier this year, I decided to start a brand new blog, by the Lord’s leading.

See my old blog was getting 3000 views per month before I switched blogging platforms.  That was earlier this year.  It was a bit of a faith walk to decide to start over, but this is what I felt I needed to do.  So here I am, starting fresh, but having a lot more tools at my disposal with wordpress.

My second post, back in June of this year, was called Seek Him First… seeking God first is a theme I so desire to be threaded through this blog.  Not Without My Morning Coffee is a place I hope people will walk away from feeling hopeful, inspired, and most of all pointed back to Matthew 6:33 (But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you). Chicken Barley Soup|Ben’s Recipe

Do you like new soup recipes as much as I do?  I have one for you.

This is the first of many posts to come featuring one of my husband Ben’s recipes (no pressure honey!).  He doesn’t love when I brag on him too much in this regard, but this guy really does know his way around the kitchen.  This guy can cook and bake.  I’m spoiled.  I took one spoonful of this chicken barley soup, eyes closed, and savoured.  2 Bowls at lunch and we pretty much finished it off at supper time.

Delicious.  Yum.  I want more.

If you are looking for a quick ish and pretty easy recipe for chicken soup, you have to try this one featuring pearl barley.  Wherever you are in the world, whether you have snow (as we do here) or not… or if you just love soups, do yourself a favour and try this soup recipe! Two Weeks Until Christmas Eve! (Try Not To PANIC!)

Is anyone else being carried away by December?  We only have ONE MORE SATURDAY until Christmas!!!!  What?!

Confession… I’m behind… are you?  I’m just getting over a cold, and we ran out of eucalyptus oil just as it set in.  Nooo!!!! Eucalyptus essential oil is a staple around here (I like DoTerra, yes it’s expensive, but it’s pure… that’s why the price tag).  Just two drops under the feet, pull socks on, do this until sniffles are gone, or maybe a day extra just to be sure.  There are four of us in this house, and two of us have needed a lot of antibiotics for sinus and chest infections in the past, but eucalyptus oil changed that.  That and prayer.  Since we started around March of this year, no one in this house has needed antibiotics.  (If some background on this is of interest to you, reader, please comment and I’ll give some great essential oil tips I’ve learned.)  Anyway, it has felt like I just can’t kick this cold.  As a result, I haven’t made enough damage on my baking list, in fact my entire to do list has been effected.  No matter how well you plan ahead, in the end it will be what it will be.  But my oils arrived today!  I’m thrilled, to say the least. Oven Roasted Potato Wedges

potato-wedges-roastedLooking for a potato dish for tonight supper?  Check out this easy recipe I came up with last week!

These yummy potato wedges are so yummy.  But finding – or in this case – figuring out a good recipe for the best potato wedges has been tricky, something I’ve been working on for a couple of years.

But last week… nailed it! (I just sang that in my head)

It might be December… or summer or some other time if you come to this post from the future… regardless of it being the Christmas season (or what have you), we all still lead somewhat regular lives with music lessons, mid week church services, Christmas shopping… I mean, we still need side dishes, right?  I like to mix it up with lots of different potato side dishes… but this one is going to be a favourite.  My almost two year old ate several of these.

So, here’s the recipe you- really have to try it, if I do say so myself, it’s a great side dish to mix up your recipe rotation (I don’t have this, but some people do)… Continue reading “Oven Roasted Potato Wedges”
