In 2008 I started a blog. I posted here and there, and a few years later not at all. Then earlier this year, I decided to start a brand new blog, by the Lord’s leading.
See my old blog was getting 3000 views per month before I switched blogging platforms. That was earlier this year. It was a bit of a faith walk to decide to start over, but this is what I felt I needed to do. So here I am, starting fresh, but having a lot more tools at my disposal with wordpress.
My second post, back in June of this year, was called Seek Him First… seeking God first is a theme I so desire to be threaded through this blog. Not Without My Morning Coffee is a place I hope people will walk away from feeling hopeful, inspired, and most of all pointed back to Matthew 6:33 (But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you).
Yes, this blog often refers to coffee – obviously – but what’s more important than my morning coffee is hearing from God everyday. We have all gone days without this, of this I’m sure, but when you get a taste of hearing His voice, and the amazing effect it has on your day, you realize you don’t want to go without it. And when you do go without daily devotions, you begin to feel dry and distant from the Lord… maybe weeks go by, then months, and before long you are barely hearing His voice. You miss His peace and His joy.
Matthew 4:4 NASV
But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Of course it doesn’t mean that life will be perfect… but on our best day and even when walking through some of the hardest, sometimes darkest, times we all need Jesus. On the mountain top, and in the valley.
7 Of My Favourite Posts From 2016
I wrote in this post a minor thing that was stealing my peace – my youngest son’s lack of napping… well napping poorly anyway. That’s what I shared on the blog, and that is how God revealed to me that I was allowing a much bigger thing to steal my peace. And that was that my husband was away on a pretty long trip for work, and I was running the solo. Props to all you single parents out there. You are rockstars.
I realized through not letting Ethan’s napping steal my peace that nothing could steal my peace unless I let it, as long as I was focused on the Lord. Praying, reading the Bible, having praise and worship on. And just refocusing. Thanking Him constantly for His peace, and Him giving it to me.
Through my verse by verse study of the Proverbs 31 woman, God has showed me so much. I have really loved this study, so if it hasn’t ministered to anyone, it’s ok – it’s ministered to me. I share this one in my top seven – and although I truly don’t know which of the posts in this series is my favourite – this was one of the more humorous ones… because my two boys require me to be strong. My youngest is in the 85th- 95th percentile and my oldest is on the edge of the 100th percentile. Carrying these boys requires me to have strong arms – sometimes I think I’m Popeye. Not really.
I’m still working on part 3 of this short story series… in all honesty I didn’t mean for it to get to a part 3. But I loved taking Luke to Honduras, because it’s a part of Latin America, and I have spent a fair bit of time in Guatemala which is near there. Before having my babies I was a part of getting a children’s home established there. I worked on this project, coming and going, for 4 1/2 years. So having him a part of building an orphanage had me loving the story. Part 3 soon to come!
My husband, Ben came up with this recipe when I wasn’t feeling well earlier this week. It’s an amazing recipe! And I’m starting to figure out some great features in picmonkey that have helped me improve the look of my recipes, including the printables. Still a work in progress, but getting there! This recipe I think had the most shares on Facebook from what I noticed. Thanks for all the shares!
This I make ALL the time. It also had a fair amount of views, and I think I had the most feedback from friends that messaged me privately… they actually tried the recipe and loved it! Win!
This one had the most views out of all my posts. I wish I could say that I got everything done and am ready for Christmas… lol… BUT I have gotten way more done earlier than in past years. Funny how writing a post like this helps you get your butt in gear. Am I right bloggers?
I definitely took on a lot more this Christmas in terms of baking and that sort of thing. It’s been fun! And if I hadn’t gotten sick I think I would be further ahead on my to do list… oyh…
This post was my second highest for views this year… I think that’s thanks to all my friends and family who took a look. It was so fun to write about our fifth wedding anniversary, looking through the photos, reminiscing. This is for sure one of my favourite posts of the year. And why wouldn’t it be?
Thank you to all of my readers – subscribers, friends, family, new “blogging friends” and the ones who landed here randomly (I hope you return someday). Building this blog this year has been quite the journey for me, and I intend to continue into 2017.
Not done posting for the year yet! Still to come: It’s Christmas Eve – a poem – and hopefully A Glimpse Part 3, if not early in the New Year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours!
