Just To See Him

I was praying this morning for a word for you, readers.  I didn’t want to write a post just for the sake of getting my weekly post up.

So this is for someone out there.

The Lord brought me to 1 Timothy 4.  I love this whole chapter.

1 Timothy 4:12-16 NKJV
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Paul was telling Timothy that he was not too young to be called by God, to be CHOSEN by God for a purpose.  He challenged him not to neglect the gift that was in him.

You are called.  Don’t neglect the gift that is in you.

And that’s what I believe the Lord gave me for you today, friend.  You are not too young, too old, too uneducated, too ________________ (you fill in the blank).  You have gifts inside you – are you using them for His glory?  Are you walking in your destiny?

I absolutely love love LOVE verse 12.  “Be an example to believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”  In what way does that challenge you?  What example are you setting?  Are you ruled by the flesh or by the spirit?  Are you walking in love, in faith, in purity… are you conducting yourself in a way that brings glory to God?

None of us are perfect, we all have lots of growing and maturing to do.

I find the closer I am to God – the more time I spend with Him, the more I know Him – the less I want things of the world.  The more I see areas that need Him to shine His Glory on in my life and refine me.

Do you want to be refined?

The more time YOU spend with God, the more He will refine you into the beautiful masterpiece He has in mind for you to be.

After reading a certain article yesterday I was driven to prayer.  There are things that cannot move without prayer.  And no one… NO ONE… can make you stop praying.

Ephesians 6:12 NASB
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We are all called to pray.  Without prayer, how can we know God?  Praying is how we talk to Him.  Prayer is how things move.

Prayer is how we know Him.

If you’re not praying, you don’t know Him.  If you’re not in the Word, you don’t know Him.  He will never say anything that contradicts His Word, the Bible.

This week, I have had this song on… probably twenty times… I don’t know… I’ve played it a lot.  My son even asks for it.

There’s a part where the worship leader, Jaye Thomas, starts to sing spontaneously (around 8 minutes, 40 seconds), “For Your glory we’ll go like Moses up to the mountain just to see you God!  To behold Your beauty!  There’s nothing we won’t do, there’s nowhere we won’t go, we want to see Your face God.  Don’t hide Your face from us, to behold You as my king, for Your Glory, I would do anything, just to see you, to behold You as my King”.

What will you do to see His face?  Where will you go?

Can you handle His glory?  Only the pure and heart can stand before His glory.

Read this encounter between God and Moses… there’s is nothing boring about the Bible…

Exodus 33:12-23 NKJV emphasis added
Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’
Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
So the Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”
And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”
Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

You are called.  You have a calling on your life.  If you’re wondering what it is, just start getting in God’s presence.  Become determined not to go anywhere, like Moses did, refuse to go anywhere without God’s presence.  How deep do you want to go?

I have been to Mount Sinai, it is a beautiful place.  I wonder, what was it like?  Those 40 days that Moses was on the mountain with God.  What was it like?

Exodus 24:16-18 NKJV
Now the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
The sight of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel. So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

In conclusion – you are not too old, you’re not too young, you are child of the King.  Go do what you are called to do.  Desire to be refined by His Glory.

I can’t stress enough the value of prayer.  We are ALL called to pray.  And these days, we really need to get on our face before God. Dare to go deeper.  Dare to know God.  Dare to make a difference.  Dare to make a difference in PRAYER.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
