Happy New Year! What’s Coming Up…

Happy New Year readers!

My family and I just returned a few days ago from the warm (or was warm) Florida… now I hear it’s a bit cooler. But it can’t be nearly as bad as the -25 celsius but feels like -33 celsius weather we have here in Ontario.  It’s so cold, you walk out and you feel like you just took a huge sip of a ice cold slushy.  That’s right.  Brain freeze.  Cause you went outside.  Welcome to Canada!

I have decided that, seeing as we seem to be having a much colder than usual winter, this is a great season for me to hide away in my house with my family and write!  And read.  I’m loving this new venture of reviewing books for Bethany House.  But more than that I’m loving this new 52 week Bible reading program I’ve started.  You can down load a copy if you’d like here.  I’m pumped to read my Bible through this year.  Last year was more of a year for study of certain subjects (one being the Proverbs 31 woman).  Do you have a plan for scripture reading this year?

I have quite a few posts in the works… recipes for biscuits, maple bbq chicken, a couple of vegetarian recipes, I have new review coming your way MONDAY (I gave this new read a 4.5 stars out of 5), and even a new fictional short story.  Also – of course – I’ll be posting a few devotionals as well.  That should easily take me into (or through!) February.

Yes, it may be frightful outside, but I plan to stay nice and warm inside with my coffee.  In fact – today is my husbands last day of holidays – and he is right now getting himself and the boys ready to brave the cold for some play time in the snow.

Let’s face it, with two boys (and a husband!) who love the snow, I won’t be able to avoid the snow forever.  Which reminds me, I need to go buy some long johns today.

Word to the wise:  when you live in Canada, you need long johns.  And sorels.

And coffee.  Lots and lots of coffee.

  1. The kids and I are incorporating a chapter a day of Bible reading into our homeschool day. We started in Matthew. Today the kids were actually asking for more chances to read and were disappointed that I only gave them each a couple paragraphs. I was pleasantly surprised!

  2. We sure loved the time away in Florida as a family ~ it was a shock to come back to the cold of winter! … I too, love the warm and coziness of being indoors and drawing near to the heart of God! There’s something so impacting about getting focus for the New Year by digging in afresh into the Word of God ~ I’m loving my Bible reading program, too! … I have to say I’m enjoying winter even tho it is a bit of a shock to the system! I enjoyed reading your blog Amy and hahaha, I can relate to the Brrrr or the cold of winter! Love Mom
