First Week of Jk Behind Us and A Little Announcement

Well folks, our first week of junior kindergarten is behind us.  I doubt that I have ever known a youngster to love jk more than my kid.

Seriously.  He was a bit put off that he couldn’t go tomorrow… which is Saturday.  Aren’t kids supposed to be stoked for Saturday?

From my last post you may know that J’s first day of school I was awake at 4:30 am.  You’ll be happy to know that I not only survived the day but that I also put grumpiness away around 6:30… especially once realizing that my husbands sleep was just as sabotaged as my own.  The kids slept past 7… seriously, the only time that happened all week.  And J LOVES school!  Yes!  E, our youngest, is seriously missing his older bro and I am now in full swing of finding playdates, and in full cheer up mode every morning.  It’s devastating.  I’m not sure which is harder for E… that Continue reading “First Week of Jk Behind Us and A Little Announcement”

Why An Inspirational Blog?

With so many blogs out there (lifestyle, training, fitness, finance, food, DIYs, to name a few) it really took me a while to determine what kind of blog this was going to be.

So why an Inspirational Blog?

I’m so glad you asked!

My hope is that every time someone finishes reading one of my posts, they feel encouraged.  With so much negativity and turmoil in the world, I feel this is my little spot to speak life.  That doesn’t mean that I will necessarily shy away from talking about hard things, but my hope is that I can bring a different perspective.

I love reading – the Bible, I read a fair bit of fiction (when time allows), I enjoy devotionals, and teaching books (John & Lisa Bevere are some of my favourite teachers/authors, along with Joyce Meyer and others).  I find a lot of the Christian fiction I read is labeled “inspirational fiction”, but the most inspiring thing I have ever read is Continue reading “Why An Inspirational Blog?”

Time Flies When You’re Having Birthday Fun

I’m pooped.  Birthday celebrations are officially over, and the same week as a certain little birthday boy went from being a regular napper to an occasional napper.  But it’s really been a great week.  Literally.  We celebrated a week ago with amazing family that went above and beyond, and of course today with his cute little friends.

So there you have it, my three year old became a four year old… it took a few days, but he finally accepts that he’s 4 (took a bit of work to realize that 3 was over and not nearly as cool as 4).  All his little friends left from his first real “kid party” and mommy and daddy are totally zonked… it’s a wonder really that I’m having energy at all to blog this.

As I was planning for his kid party, I looked on pinterest, had a few games ready to go, some ideas to make it extra fun, extra pinteresty…  In the end, all they really wanted to do was play with toys and eat food.  So the games didn’t really happen, and really, if they don’t care, I’m not going to loose sleep over it.  I think the day was a success.  Some mom’s do an amazing job of having a special theme, creative DIY projects, all that… I’m not that mom.  I’d say my way is more simplistic.  I appreciate those mom’s… but I won’t Continue reading “Time Flies When You’re Having Birthday Fun”

Wrapping up 2016 | 7 Of My Favourite Posts of the Year

In 2008 I started a blog.  I posted here and there, and a few years later not at all.  Then earlier this year, I decided to start a brand new blog, by the Lord’s leading.

See my old blog was getting 3000 views per month before I switched blogging platforms.  That was earlier this year.  It was a bit of a faith walk to decide to start over, but this is what I felt I needed to do.  So here I am, starting fresh, but having a lot more tools at my disposal with wordpress.

My second post, back in June of this year, was called Seek Him First… seeking God first is a theme I so desire to be threaded through this blog.  Not Without My Morning Coffee is a place I hope people will walk away from feeling hopeful, inspired, and most of all pointed back to Matthew 6:33 (But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you). Christmas Tree Fun

feelinglikechristmasMy almost 4 year old cannot contain himself.  He has been talking about Christmas for MONTHS and now the tree is up, and he CANNOT keep his hands off of it.

The almost 2 year old?  He’s pretty chill now, he actually listens when I say “no touch”… but the one I can usually reason with?  Ok, sometimes reason with?  Nope, he wants to play with the ornaments.  There’s a bird ornament, and he wants to pretend that the bird is eating the tree.  How do you explain to preschooler that a bird doesn’t eat the tree, but lives in the tree?  Oyh.

Anyway, after a week or two of wondering where we stored our tree (was it under the stairs? Or in the shed?  Or at my parents?) we found it last night.  Between the ornaments and the tree I think a bit was in all three places.   Continue reading “Christmas Tree Fun”

The Day I Used My Kitchen Aid All Day Long | Cinnamon Bun Teaser

Disclaimer: there are no recipes in this post, just a lot of teasers.

Last week I set a new record for myself of kitchen aid use.  First, a double batch of sugar cookies (which will be mostly frozen for Christmas), then a double batch of pizza dough to make stromboli (you have to try Lauren’s Latest fail proof pizza dough recipe) followed up by what is usually a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, but this time we used a variety of berries.

And then I whipped up a triple batch of caesar salad dressing (although I did this in a regular mixing bowl)… in addition to feeling like I was cooking/baking ALL day (yes, this was all in one day), I felt like I was doing dishes ALL DAY.  I guess I sort of was… Continue reading “The Day I Used My Kitchen Aid All Day Long | Cinnamon Bun Teaser”

What Will You Look Like November 9th, America?

November 8th is fast approaching, the day when the next American President will be elected.  Most Americans have likely already made their decision by this point.  And those minds cannot be easily changed no matter what political campaigns come up with, what the media promotes, what accusations they make.  And there seems to be a lot of accusations all over the place.  You just have to watch Fox News or CNN for five minutes to find that out.

In October 2015 we Canadians voted as you Americans will be doing in just over a week.  I was shocked that Stephen Harper wasn’t reelected. To me he was the ideal, the obvious choice.  Great family values, really brought our country’s financial security into a more comfortable place (his specialty is economics), I appreciated his views on life beginning at conception.   Continue reading “What Will You Look Like November 9th, America?”
